Finskaroos: First to fifty

by Sean Conlon and Tobey Tarasov

Brothers Bernie and Doug entered into the 2020 Australian Finska Championship as a bit of a laugh, unaware of the future this hobby game held for them. At the tournament they met a legend of the game, Damien Landais from France, who quickly enlightened them to the global scope of the game. Damien mentioned something to Bernie and Doug that would prick their curiosity and would encompass the next three years of their lives; namely that there has never been an Australian team at the World Championship. Under the guidance of this guru, Bernie and Doug assembled a team of Aussies to enter the Mölkky (Finska) World Championship aiming to take the wood throwing world by storm only to be pleasantly surprised by the quirky global community gaining a new sense of belonging on the way to becoming the best wood chuckers in the world.
